Independence Day 2026
Delhi Public School, Durgapur celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great patriotic fervour. The celebration commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. The school was honoured by the presence of Chief Guest Brigadier Rajesh Khanna, accompanied by Captain Zareef Islam of the Indian Armed Forces Medical Services.
The programme featured a soulful medley of patriotic songs by the school choir, the inspiring speech of the Principal, Shri Umesh Ch. Jaiswal, and a vibrant presentation by the young Bulbuls and Cubs depicting India’s rich cultural heritage. A skit on Padma Shri awardee Smt. Yanung Jamoh Lego highlighted the spirit of selfless service and preservation of traditional knowledge. The students also presented colourful dance performances celebrating India’s unity, diversity and vibrancy. The Social Service Club of the school presented gifts to “Barjora Ashar Alo”, highlighting the values of compassion, community service and social responsibility.
The Chief Guest interacted warmly with students and parents, emphasising the importance of continually learning new things and sharing knowledge with others. His words inspired everyone to embrace learning, contribute to society and serve the nation with dedication.
The celebration concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold the ideals of freedom and contribute towards a brighter India.
