The Liberal Edge: A Career Counselling Seminar on the Careers with Liberal Arts
The career awareness session “The Liberal Edge: Careers with Liberal Arts” discoursed on diverse opportunities for individuals passionate about subjects ranging from Literature and Philosophy to Computer Science and Finance was conducted by Mr. Leonard Rozario, Regional Manager, Office of Undergraduate Studies & Financial Aid, Ahmedabad University and Mr. Alif Hussain, Admissions and Outreach Manager, Flame University, the seminar witnessed the participation of approximately 350 students across classes XI and XII on April 28 2025.
The session began with discussions on the context of liberal education, specifically focusing on the approaches and outcomes at Flame University and Ahmedabad University. The career coaches emphasized on the importance of understanding individual purpose and how it aligns with the non-linear career paths, particularly relevant in today’s dynamic global economy.
The session, then, navigated the students through the wide range of majors and minors offered by each of the liberal arts colleges and their curriculum which fosters critical thinking, communication skills, adaptability, creativity, intellectual curiosity and analytical reasoning. The seminar played a vital role in helping students understand the complexities of the job market and find fulfilling career paths that align with their values and interests.
Finally, they guided the students regarding the various courses of experiential learning offered in these universities of like live projects, internships, community engagement etc. providing students with valuable real-world experience. In addition, application process, scholarship opportunities and intakes were also touched upon. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, leaving students inspired and better informed.
